// 001 Why Owning Assets Beats Earning Income in the Age of AI + READ

The industrial age rewarded labor. The information age rewarded skills. The AI age will reward ownership.

When AI can do most cognitive work cheaper and faster than humans, your salary becomes a commodity. What doesn't become a commodity? The assets you own. The systems you've built. The brands, the audiences, the equity.

The shift is already happening. The people winning in the next decade won't be the ones with the most impressive résumés — they'll be the ones who figured out how to own things while everyone else was busy being employed. Build assets. Not just skills.

// 002 The Moat Framework: Building Businesses That Are Hard to Kill + READ

A moat is anything that makes your business harder to compete with over time. Most businesses have no moat. They're just doing a thing until someone does it cheaper.

Real moats are built from a few things: brand trust that compounds, proprietary relationships, community that belongs to you (not a platform), unique product formulation, and operational systems that are genuinely hard to replicate.

The question to ask about every decision in your business: does this widen the moat, or does it just grow revenue? Revenue without moat is a treadmill. Moat is what you actually own.

// 003 How to 4X Revenue After a PE Group Destroys Your Company + READ

In 2019, I sold 51% of Wild Foods to a PE group. It was a mistake — not the sale, but who I sold to. Over the next two years they made a series of decisions that systematically damaged the brand, the team, and the customer relationships I'd spent years building.

When their fund collapsed in 2022, I bought it back for pennies. What followed was 16 months of fixing. Rebuilding trust with customers. Cutting what didn't work. Doubling down on what did.

We 4X'd gross revenue in those 16 months. The lesson wasn't about tactics — it was about ownership clarity, speed of decision-making, and what's possible when you stop managing politics and just operate.

// 004 The Operator's Edge: How Systems Beat Hustle Every Time + READ

Hustle culture sold a lie: that working harder is how you win. It's not. Working harder without systems just means you burn out faster while your competitors with better systems outscale you.

An operator's edge is systems thinking. Every time you do something twice, you document it. Every bottleneck you identify becomes a project. Every repetitive task is a candidate for automation.

The AI era makes this more important, not less. The founders who win will be the ones who figure out how to run more with less — not by grinding harder, but by building better machines.
